Program Overview
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most
common neurodegenerative disorder, and its
burden is increasing as populations are aging. Recent
advances in PD research include
improved understanding of the pathophysiology of the
disease, new insights into its preclinical manifestations,
advances in treatment strategies, and continued exploration
of the role of functional imaging techniques and other
biomarkers of disease. This live, 2-hour dinner program
will consist of two 45-minute presentations, followed
by a 30-minute question and answer session. Topics
to be discussed include the current understanding
of the pathophysiology of PD, its preclinical manifestations,
and nonmotor symptoms such as cognitive impairment
and depression. Also, some of the latest data from
clinical trials of disease-modifying therapies for
PD will be presented. All participants will receive
an activity workbook containing a copy of the presentation
slides.

is neurologists and other clinicians who are actively
involved in the management of patients with PD.
Educational
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the participants should
be able to:
- Explain the current understanding
of the pathophysiology of PD
- Identify preclinical manifestations
of PD
- Discuss recent advances in neuroimaging
and their clinical implications
in the diagnosis and treatment of PD
- Evaluate the latest data from
clinical trials of disease-modifying
therapies for PD
- Summarize evidence regarding
the management of nonmotor
symptoms associated with PD
