Parkinson's Disease: Advances in Research and Management

A Free CME Dinner Meeting
Wednesday, November 12, 2008
6:15 PM – Registration
6:30 PM – Dinner and Lecture

Program Overview
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder, and its
burden is increasing as populations are aging. Recent advances in PD research include
improved understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease, new insights into its preclinical manifestations, advances in treatment strategies, and continued exploration of the role of functional imaging techniques and other biomarkers of disease. This live, 2-hour dinner program will consist of two 45-minute presentations, followed by a 30-minute question and answer session. Topics to be discussed include the current understanding of the pathophysiology of PD, its preclinical manifestations, and nonmotor symptoms such as cognitive impairment and depression. Also, some of the latest data from clinical trials of disease-modifying therapies for PD will be presented. All participants will receive an activity workbook containing a copy of the presentation slides.
